Unhappily for many women in the United Kingdom sperm donation demand consistently surpasses the number of men registered to become a sperm donor. Nonetheless there are in excess eight hundred births due to sperm donation in the United Kingdom alone every single year, which of course is wonderful news, but there are still numerous women who cannot locate a sperm donor who fits their needs.

Now why is there such a shortage? There is no surgery involved, and the work is not hard or involved. Nevertheless only a small percentage of men add themselves to the sperm donor databases and offer women with an opportunity to become a parent.

Above Average Quality Sperm

Most people think that any man can become a sperm donor. However this is not actually the case. Those that do register and father children as a result of their sperm donation are men with above average sperm quality. Normally sperm for normal conception just has to be strong enough to find its way to its final destination. Conversely when sperm is used in sperm donation it has to be much tougher, for now it has to survive high and low temperature levels, confinement, transportation and then still be able to swim the final furlong!

Characteristics of Sperm Donor

Clearly when sperm fertilises a woman's egg, any resulting child will have some of the male and female genes. These are contained in the male's sperm and the egg of the women. Hence if couples are using sperm donors in order to have a child, they frequently desire the sperm donor to bear a resemblance to the male partner, so any resulting children will closely match the parent's features, even though they do not share genes.

Accordingly sperm donors are needed with many differing characteristics. The categories include; intellect, age, appearance and even, social class and religious conviction. Prospective parents match in different ways. Therefore sperm donors are needed from; Japanese, intelligent, half caste, blue eyed, bald, middle aged, shy, white skinned, brown eyed, country born, and so on. Hence the databases always need filling up with new men registering to become a sperm donor due to the infinite character combinations.

Sperm Donors Do Not Get Paid

Men who become sperm donors do not receive payment for their sperm donation, however sperm donors can receive out of pocket expenses they have built up due to donating sperm. Therefore sperm donation is a very self-less deed.

Alteration of the April 2005 UK Law

Due to an alteration in UK law dating back to April 2005, men who father a child due to their sperm donation could be contacted by their child when they reach eighteen years of age. Or as early as 16 if the child is intending to marry. So sperm donors and those who are considering becoming a sperm donor need to be aware that they can no longer donate anonymously. But please do not think that you will therefore be responsible for any resulting children from your sperm donation. For legal and financial responsibility still rests with the recipient parents.

Only Males Become Sperm Donors!

Sadly women are usually the ones who want a child; the majority of men are not that concerned. So here lies another reason concerning the sperm donor shortage; men do not care as much as women about having families and do not therefore volunteer their services. This is almost certainly why a lot of males become sperm donors after they have finished their own families, for now they have discovered how lucky they are, hence they become a sperm donor and help other people to enjoy the dream of parenthood.

To conclude there are many factors which impact upon male's attitude and ability to become sperm donors; only superior quality can father babies as a result of sperm donation, varying men are needed who will receive no financial benefit for their sperm donation, however they will receive a powerful sense of pride in their knowledge of committing such a wonderful deed.

Keep in mind that only males have sperm and women need help as they do not have a male partner, so sometimes So why not from you? males of all descriptions can become sperm donors and intended parents are evermore thankful. Fulfilling people's dreams are not something many people have the opportunity to do in this lifetime. But you do! So what is stopping you, show the women of the UK just what you UK men are made of and do something truly fantastic

The women of the United Kingdom need your help register to become a sperm donor and take pride in helping out in a national shortage.
