Is It Chest Fat Or Something Else?

Hi, I'm Chas Churchill- a Fitness Trainer with many overweight customers, which often involves instructing men how to. Prior to starting an exercise program and the client receiving my dietary advice, my customer and I must find out what his medical problem or problems are.
Does the client standing before me have the condition known as gynecomastia or I usually know from experience which condition the client has but I need him to get confirmation from his physician before commencing to work with him.
Did you know that the 3 words come from the Greek language?

* 'gyne' equals 'woman'
* 'mastos' equals'breast'
* 'pseudo' means 'false'

If the individual has a surplus of glandular tissue, possibly accompanied by fatty tissue but not necessarily, the condition from which he is suffering is gynecomastia. If his excess flesh is solely adipose or fatty then he has pseudogynecomastia which you can see from the above means false gynecomastia. He is also probably overweight in general.

Irrespective of the doctor's diagnosis and any prescribed medical treatment, a specific exercise regime is going to be necessary along with nutritional and lifestyle adjustments. By now I assume that my client has dismissed all ideas of liposuction or invasive surgery, both of which are expensive. What is expensive? Bills up to $8500, I believe, and it is almost definite that the client's Insurance company will not meet the tab because they say that such treatment is purely the client's choice and is, after all, cosmetic.

Then what sort of program do I, being the Instructor, need to prescribe if my client is to achieve his aspiration to lose chest fat. The exercise program must include not just aerobic but also resistance work. Weights work is needed if the client is going to replace his adipose tissue with lean mass and attain the resulting chest growth that he craves. Additionally, the additional muscle fibers consume more calories because they are live tissue.

As a rule I would be looking at a minimum of 3 gym sessions per week and the exercise program would usually include 30 minutes of cardio-vascular exercise on 3 separate pieces of equipment, with the client working out at 70 to 85% of his Maximum Heart Rate.

How do we figure out a client's maximum heart rate? Well, we start with 220 beats per minute, which is taken to be the average MHR for a baby, and for the first few years of the infant's life. After this the MHR will go down by one beat or so annually. It follows, doesn't it, that if you deduct the man's age from 220 you will arrive at his MHR. It follows that if the client is a man of 50 then his MHR will be 220 less 50 which is 170 and work] him up to a level where his pulse rate is in the range 119 to 145 beats per minute while doing his CV . As he gets fitter he should be able to exercise at around 90% of his MHR, or 153 beats per minute.

Alongside the CV I would include a number of broad-spectrum resistance exercises to encompass the major muscle groups, not just the chest. It is necessary to do this so that we can strengthen the client's body and improve his posture before stepping up the program. {The first re-assessment will usually follow in 4 to 6 weeks from his first program and will typically result in moving up to an alternating '2 day split', something like this|Then, 4 to 6 weeks following this we will have a re-appraisal and, if he has made steps forward, his next program will be stepped up to an alternating 'two day split' something like this|In about 4 to 6 weeks the client is nearly always ready for a more specific program dividing the workouts into an alternating 'two day split' like this:

CV/Upper Body/Abdominals
CV/Lower Body/Abdominals

Future re-appraisals may well take the client's exercise program up to a quite specific and targeted one, with extra emphasis on the chest. Hard work and application from the client could see him moving to a '4 day split' like this:

CV/Chest/Abdominals
CV/Back/Abdominals
Cv/Shoulders+Arms/Abdominals
Cv/Legs/Abdominals

Nothing is set in stone and everyone is different when it comes to the problem of how to lose chest fat, therefore programs must be adaptable.

Even though this article is primarily about gym-oriented workouts, I do appreciate that a lot of guys do not enjoy gyms, can't find the money for gyms or can't get to a gym. What is not an option is doing nothing...everybody must undergo some kind of regular and focussed exercise. Individuals will still require inspiration from a mentor of some sort.

I have researched many other methods etc. over the last twenty four months which purport to help a man lose his fat breasts and develop a more masculine chest. I have satisfied myself that some of these methods can certainly help and I have thereforeendorsed them because they are safe, natural approaches with many happy users prepared to endorse them.

You wil also discover a wealth of facts on the website about the two conditions.

Charles Churchill, 68 years young Fitness Instructor. In addition to being a Fitness Professional, I have been a gym user for over 40 years. During this time I have inspired and trained many men to achieve vastly improved Cardio-vascular fitness and, more importantly to them, a stronger and more toned body. Lots of these men had chest issues with many having bad posture through trying to hide man boobs. These were, as I now know, due to either gynecomastia or pseudogynecomastia, so all of this puts me in a unique position when helping men with both problems and giving advice on Lifestyle, Diet, Exercise and the ability to properly evaluate products designed to help with both.
